Live-Cell Kinetic Assays for Time Course Analysis
Are you performing time-course and dose-response experiments?
Are you working with precious primary or patient cells?
Are you doing drug screenings?
Live-cell kinetic assays are detection reagents that allow the same sample well to be repeatedly measured over multiple time points. This saves you time and effort, enabling you to collect more informative data in real time. Learn how you can get better quantitative data without cumbersome multi-plate setups.

Discover a new generation of sensitive, microtiter plate-based, live cell assays that allow the continuous measurement of different biomarkers of cell health and apoptosis.
Transform Your Time-Course into a One-Plate Experiment
No more separate wells for every time point. One plate setup gets you unlimited data.
Less setup, less cells, less time, less pipetting, less reagents, less... well... everything.

Example Workflow #1: Repeated Reading from Same Well
Plate your cells and add the reagent once. Then read the plate at each time point, as many times as you need! Our Cell Viability, Cytotoxicity, Target Engagement, Reporter Expression, Apoptosis, Extracellular ATP, Protein:Protein Interactions and Targeted Protein Degradation assays use this workflow.

Example Workflow #2: Repeated Sampling from Same Well
Plate your cells just once. At each time point, remove a small sample of cell media, add reagent and read. Repeat sampling as many times as you need! Our LDH Release and Energy Metabolism assays use this workflow.

Learn How These Assays Work
We provide a portfolio of individual live-cell kinetic assay kits. All of these assays allow you to read the same sample plate over multiple time points. The workflow varies based on the different reagent chemistry.

No More Missing Time Points
Every second, cellular conditions are changing.
What if you miss that one time point that matters?
With real-time assays, you don't need to guess when things will be interesting.
Make a real curve! Collect data from however many time points you need, all from a single well.
Data obtained using the Nano-Glo® Endurazine™ and Vivazine™ Live Cell Substrates.
Multiple Assays in One Sample Well
Get even more data per sample by multiplexing two, or even three assays on a single plate. This will allow you to normalize your data, compare orthogonal methods or provide insight to the mechanism of action.
Pair our real-time assays together for any combination of cell viability, cytotoxicity, apoptosis, metabolite quantification and reporter expression.
All three of the above graphs were obtained from a single sample plate! Learn more about the data in the technical manual of the Cholesterol/Cholesterol Ester-Glo™ Assay.
"We can get way more data from a single experiment..."

Better Data Using Any Multimode Plate Reader
Measuring the same sample plate ensures you are comparing the same number of cells and dose treatment over time.
Get unambiguous, straightforward signal values that you can easily analyze and graph.
You can use any multimode plate reader, like the one you already have in the lab, but our GloMax® Instruments are optimized to run these assays. Learn how you can easily get great 24-hour or multiday kinetic data using GloMax® Instruments in this blog.
Save Precious Samples
Sometimes, they give you a little and expect a lot.
By generating data over time from a single well (instead of one well for each time point), those valuable cells go even further.

Watch NowSounds Too Good To Be True... What's the Catch?
It's a New Technique
Our real-time assays use new technology that you may not be familiar with. That's why we encourage you to consult with us to make sure expectations are met. Although these assays may be new to you, they're not new to us. We've provided these assays since 2015, and they have been used in hundreds of publications! Search for citations here.
Single Kit Cost
The cost for a real-time assay kit might seem higher than what you're used to. However, you're getting more data per well because one real-time assay well can be repeatedly measured for as many time points as you need. If you consider the savings of reagents, plasticware, cells, treatments, time spent on duplicating sample plates... you'll likely save costs.
Verification Time
Like any new assay, you will have to test and verify real-time assays in your lab. That will take time in the beginning. But the time you'll save in the long run makes it worthwhile. You can find detailed protocols for each individual assay in the technical manuals. And don't worry, our Technical Services team can answer any questions you may have. We're here to help you succeed!
