Who we are

As the founding site for Promega Corporation, Madison continues to serve as the headquarters location (2800 Woods Hollow Road, Madison, WI, 53711). Here you will find research and development, manufacturing, legal, marketing and human resources functions.

Where we are

The 400-acre Fitchburg Center provides a pleasing backdrop for the Promega campus buildings. These include corporate headquarters, research and development, and full manufacturing facilities incorporating custom and cGMP capabilities.

The Promega buildings are all constructed to minimize impact on the environment, with rain gardens to filter runoff before it enters the sewer system, lighting that reduces night-time light pollution, and prairie plantings around the campus that seek to preserve native flora and fauna.

Promega's continued growth as a business depends upon creativity and collaboration among its employees. As a company we strive to provide a work environment that fosters community, collaboration and creativity through attractive workspaces, art on campus, exercise facilities, and third spaces for employees.

Additionally the Madison campus hosts a community garden for employees as well as a garden used by culinary services to provide fresh ingredients for the on-site cafeterias. Our catering services are used by Promega as well as the Fitchburg community for events hosted at the BioPharmaceutical Technology Center.

Madison also serves as the site of the Promega Wellness Center, a wellness facility staffed by a full time nurse practitioner that provides health education and medical care for Promega employees.

What we do

Promega Corporation manufactures reagents and instrumentations to help life scientists ask the questions they want to answer. In Madison, we manufacture enzymes and enzyme systems for the amplification and cloning of DNA, detection of gene expression, cell health or biochemical assays, and protein analysis. We produce systems for the extraction and purification of DNA, RNA and protein from cells and tissues that allow the researcher to work at whatever throughput is required. We also provide most of the quality assurance testing and technical support for instruments manufactured by other Promega facilities. These instruments are designed to integrate seamlessly with our assay systems, ensuring uninterrupted workflow for the scientist.

In addition to research and development and manufacturing, the Madison campus also is home to marketing, customer service, legal and human resources.

Ways we contribute

In addition to environmental initiatives, Promega works to sustain local communities through service such as blood drives through the Red Cross and outreach through organizations like the United Way. Community service by employees includes participation in work days, school supplies and book drives, among other activities. Additionally many Promega employees volunteer time through the BioPharmaceutical Technology Center Institute and other organizations around Wisconsin.

The BioPharmaceutical Technology Center Institute (BTCI) is a not-for-profit organization operated exclusively for educational, scientific and cultural purposes. BTCI is located on the Madison campus, and has offices and teaching labs that are used to coordinate classes for the community, the Madison Youth Apprenticeship program, programs in conjunction with local colleges and universities, and K-12 programs. Additionally the BTCI sponsors an annual Stem Cell Symposium and Bioethics Forum in collaborations with several institutions around Wisconsin.

The Woods Hollow Children's Center, a non-profit child care center sponsored by Promega and Fitchburg Center is also located in Fitchburg Center and offers high quality child care and early childhood education experiences for the children of the surrounding community.
