Abstract

In this paper, the authors describe the application of bioluminescent assays for the high-throughput analysis of two major metabolic pathways in cancer cells: glycolysis and glutaminolysis. They use bioluminescent energy metabolism assays to detect glucose, glucose uptake, lactate, glutamine and glutamate. These highly sensitive assays demonstrated a broad linear range, a wide dynamic range and worked well in high-throughput workflows where they could be performed in multiplex with a real-time viability assay to generate controlled data sets.
