High-Efficiency, Automated Genomic DNA Extraction from a Broad Range of Sample Types

The Maxwell® CSC Genomic DNA Kit is intended for use as an in vitro diagnostic (IVD) medical device. The kit is used in combination with the Maxwell® CSC or CSC 48 Instrument and the Maxwell® CSC Genomic DNA method to extract and purify genomic DNA from multiple different human sample types in a single instrument run. Compatible sample types include human whole blood, buffy coat, bone marrow, buccal swabs, tissues, and cells isolated from tissue cultures or various biological fluids (e.g., urine, amniotic fluid, etc.). The Maxwell® CSC Genomic DNA Kit offers clinical laboratories a platform solution with built-in flexibility for consistent and reliable DNA extraction from different sample types and input amounts for use with a variety of in vitro diagnostic workflows such as PCR and qPCR assays.

Flexible Workflow Allows Multiple Sample Types to be Processed in a Single Extraction Run

The Maxwell® CSC Genomic DNA Kit contains all the necessary reagents for DNA extraction from different sample types. All sample types use the same Maxwell® CSC Instrument method (~40 minutes) following a sample-specific lysis step. The Maxwell® CSC Genomic DNA Kit allows different sample input amounts, and the purified DNA can be eluted in 50–200µl of Elution Buffer.

The Maxwell® CSC Genomic DNA Kit used with the Maxwell® CSC or the Maxwell® CSC 48 Instrument consistently extracts high yield and quality of DNA from multiple sample types. Panel A. Genomic DNA was extracted from 300µl of whole blood (n=12) with different anticoagulants and eluted in either 50µl or 200µl of Elution Buffer. Panel B. Average purity ratios of DNA extracted from different sample types as determined by absorbance. Panel C. DNA was extracted from 300µl each of buffy coat and bone marrow, 5 × 106 HEK293 cells, 50mg of pancreatic tissue, and one or two buccal swabs. All samples were eluted in 200µl of Elution Buffer, and the concentration and quality of samples was determined by absorbance.

Reliable Amplification using Genomic DNA Extracted from Different Human Sample Types using the Maxwell® CSC Genomic DNA Kit

DNA extracted using the Maxwell® CSC Genomic DNA Kit shows consistent amplification in qPCR.

DNA extracted from multiple sample types using the Maxwell® CSC Genomic DNA Kit shows consistent amplification in a qPCR assay. DNA was extracted from whole blood, buffy coat, bone marrow, HEK293 cells, pancreatic tissue and one or two buccal swabs (n=12) using the Maxwell® CSC Genomic DNA Kit on either the Maxwell® CSC or Maxwell® CSC 48 Instrument. The DNA was quantified by absorbance, diluted to a concentration within the qPCR standard curve and used as a template to amplify a 300-base-pair target in a qPCR assay.
