Rabbit Reticulocyte Lysate, Untreated

Contains the cellular components necessary for protein synthesis (tRNA, ribosomes, amino acids, initiation, elongation and termination factors) but has not been treated with micrococcal nuclease. Untreated Lysate is used primarily for the isolation of these components and as an abundant source of endogenous globin mRNA. Untreated Lysate is prepared from New Zealand white rabbits in the same manner as treated lysates with the exception that it is not treated with micrococcal nuclease.

Applications
  • Isolation of the cellular components necessary for protein synthesis.
  • Translation of exogenous mRNA, after further optimization, including the addition of energy-regenerating systems, hemin, endogenous tRNA and micrococcal nuclease to remove endogenous mRNA.
