The Role
Employee Profile
The individual should have a strong background in life science research to a minimum PhD level. Previous sales experience within the life science field is preferred. Promega places strong emphasis on building highly collaborative relationships with customers so excellent communication and relationship building skills are key.
This sales position requires an experienced individual to manage and grow business within prestigious academic and government-funded research institutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing key account strategies, and building deep customer relationships to establish Promega as a trusted partner in life sciences. The individual should be able to demonstrate drive to meet or exceed sales targets, always be well organised and act as a team player. They should have excellent time-management, communication skills and be highly customer-focused. In addition, they should be well versed in office-based computer packages (especially Excel) with previous experience of using and reporting on CRM and revenue data.
Role and Key Responsibilities
- Key Account Management: Develop, implement, and execute strategic growth plans for key academic and government-funded institutions in the territory.
- Sales Execution & Target Achievement: Drive revenue growth by meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Customer Engagement & Relationship Management: Develop strong partnerships with researchers, procurement teams, and decision-makers.
- Technical Sales: Provide consultative sales expertise on Promega’s innovative life science portfolio, including genomics, proteomics, cellular analysis, molecular biology, and drug discovery solutions.
- Market Mapping & Business Development: Identify new opportunities for product expansion and strategic collaborations.
- CRM & Reporting: Maintain accurate sales forecasts and customer data within the CRM system.
- Internal Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, customer service, and tender/contract teams to ensure seamless customer support.
- Mentor: Be prepared to support your team colleagues with commercial experience, insights and aptitude.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
Education:
- PhD in Life Sciences (preferred) with 3years sales experience OR Life Science Degree with 5+ years of successful life science sales experience.
Experience:
- Ideally 5 years in scientific sales within the academic & government research sector.
- Proven ability to sell and support highly technical products.
- Experience managing and growing large, complex academic or government accounts.
Key Skills:
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of exceeding targets.
- Exceptional relationship-building and consultative sales skills.
- Strategic mindset with experience in account planning and revenue forecasting.
- Capable of learning and communicating features and benefits of highly technical products to customers
- Able to listen, respond to customer needs, be flexible and keen to take on challenges
- Highly organised, with excellent time management and communication skills.
- Comfortable with CRM systems (MS Dynamics or equivalent) and Microsoft Office.

- Clean full driving license
- Ability to travel within the territory
