What protein assays are compatible with Promega's lysis buffers?

To measure the protein content of an extract prepared with one of Promega's various lysis buffers, including the Cell Culture Lysis Reagent (CCLR), Reporter Lysis Buffer (RLB), Glo Lysis Buffer (GLB), Passive Lysis Buffer (PLB) or Renilla Luciferase Assay Lysis Buffer (RLALB), the use of a detergent-compatible assay is recommended. Promega has tested a number of protein assays to determine their compatibility.

All Promega lysis buffers-The NanoOrange® fluorescent protein assay (Molecular Probes) requires a 1:10 dilution with water for all of Promega's lysis buffers. The NI™ protein assay (GenoTechnology) can be used with undiluted extracts prepared in any of the lysis buffers.

Cell Culture Lysis Reagent (CCLR)-Due to the high DTT concentration, an extract prepared in CCLR must be diluted at least 1:2 in water prior to using the BCA Protein Assay (Pierce Chemical) or DC Protein Assay (BioRad).

Reporter Lysis Buffer (RLB)-The BCA Protein Assay and the DC Protein Assay (large-scale assay only) work well using no more than 10µl of cell extract.
