NanoLuc™ (Nluc) is an ATP-independent luciferase that utilizes a novel coelenterazine analog (furimazine) to produce high intensity, glow-type luminescence. The enzyme, evolved from a deep-sea shrimp, is much brighter than firefly luciferase (Fluc) and provides superior sensitivity as a genetic reporter. It exhibits greater physical stability, which reduces compound interference in high-throughput screening (HTS). NanoLuc™ may be configured for intracellular or secreted reporter formats, and being less than 1/3 the size of Fluc, it is well suited for experiments requiring small reporters (e.g., viral genomes, protein fusions, etc.).
