The use of reporter gene assays has allowed the analysis of a wide number of cell signaling pathways. By measuring pathways at a non-target based, phenotypic level, it is possible to analyze the impact of perturbation at any node along the pathway. Promega has created a portfolio of bioluminescence-based reporter gene assays directed at pathways involved in cellular stress. These assays can help identify the cellular mechanisms used by cells to adapt to a perturbation, gaining insight into the potential toxicity of compounds. We also present a format for using a number of assays in parallel to profile the activity against multiple pathways quickly without the need for stable cell generation.
