2019 Real-Time PCR Grant Application

Overview

What could you accomplish with free real-time PCR reagents?

Real-time PCR is the workhorse of most gene expression studies but finding the right chemistry can be difficult. We’re looking for three labs working with real-time PCR to receive $10,000 in free reagents and comprehensive support from PCR experts.

Who can apply?

Are you performing life science research and working with real-time PCR? You’re in! Applications are open to any research scientist or student enrolled in a life science undergraduate, graduate or postdoctoral program.

What do I need to apply?

We’re just interested in your research! Tell us about your project—all the interesting details and what you’re hoping to accomplish. Be sure to describe how real-time PCR fits in.

What if I win?

Three winners will receive:

  1. $10,000USD awards of Promega products
  2. Access to a VIP Technical Service Mentor
  3. Specialized training on real-time PCR techniques

Additionally, we want to share your story! Winners agree to partner with Promega to share project information and collaborate on projects such as scientific posters, white papers, webinars, blog posts or other exciting opportunities. Promega Real-Time PCR Grant Official Rules

  1. Eligibility
    1. The Promega Real-Time PCR Grant (the “Real-Time PCR Grant”) is available to individuals who are at least 18 years old and are a researcher or scientist that is either (i) currently enrolled in a life science undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral program, or (ii) currently employed in an organization that performs life science research. Eligible individuals are not required to buy Promega products or pay any fees to participate. Employees of Promega and members of the immediate families of such employees are not eligible. Employees of authorized Promega distributors are not eligible.
    2. The Real-Time PCR Grant is not available in all geographic regions. Please check with your Promega representative or authorized Promega distributor for availability in your area. Void where prohibited by law.

     

  2. Entry and Prizes
    1. Go to https://www.promega.com/c/global/forms/real-time-pcr-grant/ to apply. Deadline to enter is Friday, May 10, 2019, 11:59pm CDT. Winners will be notified no later than Friday, May 31, 5:00pm CDT.
    2. The following illustrates the information you will be asked when submitting your entry to the grant contest.
      1. Contact Information: First name, last name, email address, telephone, job/role, institute, street address, city, state/province (as applicable), postal code/ZIP, country, social media accounts (as applicable).
      2. Experimental Information: Access to real-time PCR instrument, sample type, sample organism, real-time PCR efficiency, and other support needed.
      3. Abstract: Submit a brief abstract (under 500 words) describing your research and how real-time PCR fits into your project. Include information about other products, if any, that you would request in addition to Real-Time PCR reagents, and how they fit into your project.
    3. Please consider that your organization’s internal policy may not allow you to receive incentives or your employer’s permission may be requested before participating in the contest. Limit one entry per person.
    4. Three (3) winners will be selected by a committee of judges from Promega (the “Promega Selection Committee”) based on information submitted in the application form. Winners may be subject to a phone call to confirm application information.
    5. Each winner will be notified by e-mail, phone and/or postal mail at the sole discretion of Promega, no later than Friday, May 31, 5:00pm CDT. In the event a winner cannot receive his/her prize for any reason, the prize shall be awarded to an alternate winner as determined by the Promega Selection Committee.
    6. Grant recipients will receive:
      1. A $10,000 USD credit to purchase Promega products at the US list price subject to the requirements in paragraph “g.”;
      2. Access to a Promega scientific mentor for experimental design, real-time PCR optimization, and troubleshooting; and
      3. Interactive virtual training on real-time PCR.
    7. The Real-Time PCR Grant must be redeemed in the form of free Promega products and cannot be redeemed for its monetary value. Winners will select their package of free product from the list in Table 1.Free product can be claimed in no more than three requests, using the request form that will be provided to each winner.Products shall be ordered within 6 months of grant award notification.Any portion of the grant credit not used as required by this paragraph may be forfeited.Please allow 1 to 6 weeks for approval and delivery.
    8. By accepting a Real-Time PCR Grant, you agree to share information or data collected for marketing or commercial purposes. Specifically, winners agree to:
      1. Share stories from their research with Promega in the months following the delivery of the free product, including stories related to the integration of GoTaq® products into their workflow.
      2. Support promotional activities at Promega’s request for 12 months following accepting the grant, which could include, but is not limited to, interviews, webinar presentations, website story features, videos, photoshoots, blogging, data sharing, and/or presenting at conferences or seminars. This content will be shared on the Promega website (www.promega.com), the Promega blog (www.promegaconnections.com) and Promega social media accounts including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
      3. Acknowledge Promega in scientific publication(s) authored by the award recipient related to the research performed and supported by the grant.
  3. General
    1. In case of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an online entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the person in whose name the e-mail account is registered. The winner may be required to provide evidence that he/she is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry. Return of any prize notification as undeliverable will result in forfeiture of the prize.
    2. Entry information shall be the property of Promega. No prize transfer or cash redemption will be permitted. No prize substitution will be permitted, except by the sole discretion of Promega, in which case a prize of comparable or greater value may be awarded.
    3. Taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner.
    4. Promega reserves the right to substitute any prize of equal or greater value or to cancel, suspend, and/or modify the contest at its sole discretion.
    5. By participating, entrants agree to abide by and be bound by the rules and decisions of Promega which shall be final in all respects relating to this Real-Time PCR Grant, including without limitation the interpretation of this rule. Participants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless Promega, its subsidiaries, affiliates, and their officers, directors, agents and representatives and their respective employees from any and all claims, charges, injuries, liability, losses and/or damages of any kind resulting from or arising out of his or her participation in the Real-Time PCR Grant and/or the acceptance, use, misuse or possession of any prize received by the Real-Time PCR Grant.
