TrkB is the high-affinity receptor for brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and
neurotrophin-4 (NT-4). Two forms of the TrkB receptor exist, the full-length, active
145kDa protein and a truncated, nonsignaling 95kDa protein. The truncated isoform lacks
the cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase catalytic region and therefore does not signal in response
to BDNF or NT-4. The Anti-TrkB In pAb (Cat.# G1561) is a polyclonal antibody raised in chickens against
a cytoplasmic domain of the carboxy terminus of the mouse TrkB intracellular domain.
- Immunogen: A fusion protein containing residues 482–501
(HISNGSNTPSSSEGGPDAVI) derived from a portion of the intracellular domain of mouse TrkB
generated in E. coli using a proprietary synthetic carrier protein technology.
- Antibody Form: Chicken IgY provided at 0.5mg/ml in 0.1M NaCl, 0.01M K2PO4
(pH 7.4).
- Specificity: Detects full-length TrkB, the high-affinity receptor for
BDNF and NT-4, in human, rat and primate brain.
Promega Product Information Sheet (.pdf, 30kb):
Western Blotting
Not recommended because of lack of reactivity. Experiments were attempted on rat whole brain lysates. The blots were
clean. We believe it is a case of lack of antigen rather than failure of the antibody. No further optimization was
performed.
