Antibody Assistant

Anti-Human BDNF pAb

BDNF, a 27kDa homodimer originally derived from human brain and which shares high sequence homology with NGF, NT-3 and NT-4/5, influences many neuron types in the central nervous system (1,2). Anti-Human BDNF pAb (Cat.# G1641) is generated in chickens and purified using the EGGstract® IgY Purification System (Cat.# G2610). IgY, the 180kDa chicken IgG homolog, can be produced in chickens against certain biological antigens that fail to elicit a humoral immune response in rabbits or other mammals due to species relatedness. Therefore, the antibody is highly specific for BDNF.

  • Immunogen: Human recombinant BDNF.
  • Antibody Form: Chicken IgY, provided at 0.5mg/ml in 0.1M NaCl, 0.01M K2HPO4 and 50μg/ml gentamicin.
  • Specificity: Cross-reactive between mammalian species; does not cross-react with other neurotrophic factors.

Immunohistochemistry

Technical Literature:

  • Immunostaining with Promega Antibodies No. 2. Neural Notes 10, 12–13 (.pdf, 516kb). —Information communicated to Promega by a researcher for staining protocol. Tissue was perfused with 2.0% paraformaldehyde with minimal post fixation (i.e. start the IHC as soon as possible). Incubate tissue section with 0.1% Triton® X-100 in PBS for 30 minutes (optimization is necessary). Incubate with 10–15μg/ml Anti-Human BDNF pAb.
