DNA purification from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues can be time consuming and tedious. Here we demonstrate the utility of the Maxwell® 16 Instrument for automated purification of DNA from proteinase K-digested FFPE tissue samples. Using the prefilled cartridges of the Maxwell® 16 FFPE Tissue LEV DNA Purification Kit for Maxwell® 16, DNA can be extracted from up to 16 samples at a time, in approximately 30 minutes. Yields were comparable to a manual purification, and DNA was of suitable quality for multiplex real-time PCR and microsatellite instability analysis.
