PowerPlex esx and esi 17 Fast Systems

The PowerPlex® ESX and ESI Fast Systems meet the ENFSI recommendation for DNA profile sharing across Europe. They utilize rapid cycling technology—amplification can be done in less than 50 minutes. Based on the current PowerPlex® ESI and ESX Systems, they allow co-amplification and detection of D3S1358, D8S1179, D18S51, D21S11, FGA, TH01, vWA, D2S441, D10S1248, D22S1045, D1S1656, D12S391, D2S1338, D16S539, D19S433, SE33 (optional) and Amelogenin.

The PowerPlex® ESX and ESI Fast Systems are compatible with numerous capillary electrophoresis instruments, including the Applied Biosystems® 3130, 3130xl, 3500 and 3500xL Genetic Analyzers and ABI PRISM® 3100, 3100-Avant and 310 Genetic Analyzers.

Achieve the Same Superior Results But in Less Time

The PowerPlex® ESI and ESX Systems provide the equivalent level of performance demonstrated by the original PowerPlex® ESI and ESX Systems. By utilizing the same robust buffer and primer design, the PowerPlex® ESX and ESI Fast Systems produce more complete profiles with challenging samples including those which contain a high level of inhibitors or samples which are comprised of degraded or low template DNA.

The PowerPlex® ESI 17 Fast System. A DNA sample (0.5ng) was amplified in a 25µl reaction with the PowerPlex® ESI 17 Fast System (red bars) or PowerPlex® ESI 17 Pro System (blue bars) for 30 cycles using a GeneAmp® PCR System 9700 thermal cycler. A loading cocktail containing CC5 Internal Lane Standard 500 Pro and formamide was mixed with 1µl of amplified sample, and amplified fragments were detected using an Applied Biosystems® 3130xl Genetic Analyzer and a 3kV, 5-second injection (top panel) or Applied Biosystems® 3500xL Genetic Analyzer and a 1.2kV, 24-second injection (bottom panel).

Improved Sensitivity for More Meaningful Analyses

The PowerPlex® ESI and ESX Fast Systems reliably produce complete STR profiles from as little as 100pg of human DNA, and the majority of alleles can be called with as little as 30pg of DNA.

The PowerPlex® ESI and ESX Fast Systems demonstrate superior sensitivity, reliably generating full profiles with as little as 100pg of DNA. Varying amounts of DNA amounts were amplified in 25µl reactions with PowerPlex® ESI and ESX 17 Fast Systems and PowerPlex® ESI 17 Pro and ESX Systems (n = 3). Amplified products were separated using an Applied Biosystems® 3130 Genetic Analyzer (3kV, 5-second injection). The percentage of total alleles called is indicated for each DNA amount.

Perform Direct Amplification from a Variety of Sample Types

The PowerPlex® ESI and ESX Fast Systems allow direct amplification from FTA® card punches as well as pretreated nonFTA cards and commonly used swabs to streamline workflow and expand sample throughput.
