4α-PMA

4α-phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (4α-PMA) is an inactive analogue of and negative control for phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), which is also known as 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate (TPA). Effects of PMA in a given system are thought to be specific if 4α-PMA is not active in the same system. The chemical identity and purity of 4α-PMA are confirmed by proton NMR.
