EGF Receptor

Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGF Receptor) is a cell- surface glycoprotein composed of a single polypeptide chain that binds the peptide Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF). The EGF Receptor consists of an extracellular ligand binding domain, a single transmembrane region and a cytoplasmic intrinsic tyrosine kinase domain. Upon ligand binding, the EGF Receptor autophosphorylates, activating the tyrosine kinase domain of the EGF Receptor.
