Afro-Cuba at the Crossroads is the Promega Corporation Fall Art Showcase. It features the artwork of Leandro Soto and Patricia Clark from Arizona State University West, Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance department.
Leandro Soto's art is multi-cultural and explores relationships. He uses performance art, paintings, installation art plus set and costume design to depicted Afro-Cuban culture. Soto's fine art is theatrical. His installations are productions that may involve objects scattered on the floor and walls and may include video or sound to help create context, in addition to painted stage-like elements.
Patricia Clark's creative research involves the use of media technologies as the tool through which she examines issue of cultural and global identity. She explores content areas that lie within the cultural, social, political, and economic conditions of the United States, the Southwestern United States, Latin America and the Caribbean with a current emphasis on the island of Cuba. Her work includes digital prints, interactive media, video art and documentary. Additional Cuban art will be on display from other art collections including Francisco "Gordillo" Arredondo and Jose Rodriquez.

The Afro-Cuba at the Crossroads showcase opens Tuesday September 18, 2007 and continues through November 30, 2007 at the Promega BioPharmaceutical Technology Center in Madison. A public art opening reception will be held on Tuesday September 18 from 4:30pm – 6:30pm.
Promega Corporation has sponsored the artist’s showcase since 1996 as part of the company’s commitment to creativity and innovation in the arts, cultures and sciences. The Biopharmaceutical Technology Center, located on 5445 East Cheryl Parkway two miles south of Highway 12/18 (Beltline) off Fish Hatchery Road, was developed, in part, to provide Promega employees and community members a place to pursue these goals.
