Committed to advancing functional proteomics research methods, Promega Corporation announces availability of an entire suite of functional proteomics technologies. These integrated technologies give scientists consistent results from sample prep to identification and validation. Specifically, these technologies apply to the study of in vitro and in vivo protein:protein interactions, protein nucleic acid interactions, enzymatic activities, spatial and temporal localization in vivo and more.
The suite of Promega functional proteomics tools provides scientists consistency and flexibility for their research. These tools provide the ability to:
- Express protein in 1-hour
- Easily transfer of the protein-coding region to other vectors
- Immobilize expressed proteins from cell or cell-free systems
- Image in live- or fixed cells
Researchers are already incorporating these tools into their work. (A list of select citations is available upon request.)
"The complex nature of proteins makes each step of research daunting and independent from the next. We believe it’s critical to provide technologies that bridge these steps, " explains Martin Rosenberg, Promega Chief Scientific Officer. "Appreciating that scientists are usually transitioning out of genomics and into proteomics which has no standardized methods, we have developed tools to support the entire proteomics research pathway. That way, an investigator doesn’t need to design a method for each phase of research. With Promega technologies, the tools are already developed and work together."
The Promega functional proteomics tools currently center around three primary technologies:
- Flexi® Vector – Directional closing for protein-coding sequences.
- TnT® Expression Systems – single-tube coupled transcription/translation for cell-free protein expression.
- HaloTag® Technology – multimodal tag for applications, from protein interactions to imaging to analysis – allows a researcher to express and purify a protein fusion, pull it, immobilize it and visualize it to study and understand function.
Promega will continue to build on these technologies this year and focus on refining more methods in proteomics research. For detail on any of these proteomics technologies, please visit: www.promega.com/proteininteractions
