Forensic Expert System Software Now Available in US

Promega and UK’s FSS Sign Distribution Agreement

MADISON, WISCONSIN (September 27, 2005)

The FSS-i3™ expert system software, developed by the Forensic Science Service® (FSS) in the United Kingdom, is now available in the US with full service and support. The FSS and Promega signed an agreement naming Promega as the exclusive distributor for the software, service and training in the US. The software automates the manual data analysis process.

"The software will provide our forensic customers an innovative tool for data analysis and will help scientists save time on data review." commented Mary Linton, Director of Genetic Identity at Promega. Now that this agreement is in place, customers will be able to purchase the software and get support from a local source. The addition of the FSS-i3 software nicely complements our product offering for DNA STR analysis to the forensic market."

"We know there’s a strong interest to use this software in the US," says Mel Moffatt, Commercial Director at the FSS. "We are very excited to have Promega as our distributor in the US. The Promega reputation for service and support and knowledge of the market is excellent, and customers will benefit from having access to a service provider in the US."

The FSS-i3 expert systems software is the first STR data analysis software package designed by forensic scientists for forensic scientists. Employing the software for this analysis and data review frees up scientists’ time to work through more cases and spend more efforts on the problem samples.
