TfxTM-50 Reagent and High Efficiency Transfection of Vascular Tissue in vitro and in vivo

By Daxin Chen, Florea Lupu, Nick Shaper, Jacqueline F. Schmitt, Nicholas R. Lemoine and Michael-Christopher Keogh

Recent studies have demonstrated the use of cationic liposomes to facilitate the functional delivery of a reporter gene into vascular cells in vitro or into the vascular wall in vivo. We describe the successful delivery of a luciferase gene into vascular cells in vitro and tissues in vivo using the TfxTM-50 Reagent, a cationic liposome. Our methods also resulted in higher efficiencies than previously reported for a transfection complex of cationic liposome:DNA in vascular tissue.
