Transfection of Insect Cells with Tfx^TM-20 Reagent

In this study, the performance of Promega's Tfx^TM Reagents in the transfection of cultured insect cells was evaluated. The effects of DNA concentration, liposome formulation, transfection time, cell density and media supplementation on transfection efficiency were investigated using firefly luciferase as the reporter gene system and Sf9 cells as the recipient cell line. Transfection using the Tfx^TM-20 Reagent provided the highest expression levels in Sf9 cells compared with the other Tfx^TM Reagent formulations. For cotransfection of vector and baculovirus DNA, Tfx^TM-20 Reagent also gave enhanced performance compared with other commercially available liposome formulations.
