Luciferase as a genetic reporter combined with low-light imaging systems offers a
means to study dynamic fluctuations in transcriptional activity. In addition, these
methods provide a non-invasive way to study these changes as well as allow the development
of genetic screens based on subtle differences in transcriptional activity.
