Abstract

Neutralization of TrkB Tyrosine Kinase Receptor Activity Using BDNF pAb

by Jean G. Toma and David R. Kaplan* (*Corresponding author: mcdv@musica.mcgill.ca) Montreal Neurological Institute 3801 University Street Montreal, Quebec H3A 2B4 Canada

Neurotrophic factors are prime candidates in many studies aimed at understanding the mechanisms of some human neurodegenerative diseases. We are focusing on the possible role of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its receptor, TrkB, with emphasis on the cellular events following receptor phosphorylation. Herein, we tested the neutralizing effect of a BDNF antibody (Cat.# G1641) on BDNF-mediated activation of TrkB, as assessed by receptor tyrosine phosphorylation.
