Detection of Neurotrophic Factors and MAP Kinase by Immunocytochemistry
The neurotrophins and their respective receptors are key elements in the initial
response of a host of neural and nonneural tissues to extracellular signals.
Further downstream in the signaling pathway are the mitogen-activated protein
kinases (MAPKs) or ERKs (extracellular signal-regulated kinases). The ability to
detect not only the activated MAPKs, but also the neurotrophin receptros, is
important to the discovery of the many roles that neurotrophins serve in
mammalian tissues. This article presents procedures for the immunological
labeling of proteins in mammalian cells and tissues using Promega's Anti-ACTIVE®
MAPK pAb (Cat.# V8031),
Anti-Human p75 mAb (Cat.#
G3231), and Anti-Pan Trk pAb (Cat.#
G1581).
