Promega @cademy: Webinars

What is a webinar?
A webinar is an online seminar.
The presenter gives this seminar by means of a microphone and video camera hooked on an internet-connected computer, as shown in the picture below. Promega’s webinar environment does not require any prior program download. This environment enables us to give a seminar in a virtual room to persons present in different locations and to allow communication between these persons through a chat.

You want to learn more? View this 5-min narrated presentation that explains Promega’s webinar environment, how to use its tools and what the minimal requirements for your computer are that will allow optimal webinar attendance.

Curious to see how it looks like? Go and have a look to a permanent virtual seminar room, our “test-room”.

Promega @cademy webinars are free-of-charge and can be presented in English, Dutch and French: no reason then not to follow them!
We have developed a program of basic webinars that addresses in a specific, concise and non-commercial way general scientific topics. These webinars are particularly adapted for young scientists, lab managers and students.

How does it work?
If you see a webinar that interests you, send your registration. Registration is important: to ensure the interactive character of the webinars, we will only accept a limited amount of attendees.
The registrees will receive the URL of the actual webinar room 1 or 2 days prior to broadcasting the webinar for which they are registered.

We recommend that you check whether your computer meets the technical requirements as well as you get acquainted to the tools before attending a webinar. For this, view this 5-min narrated presentation that explains Promega’s webinar environment, how to use the tools and what the minimal requirements for your computer are that will allow optimal webinar attendance. Also enter our permanent test-room or, within 2 days prior to broadcasting, enter the actual webinar room from which you will receive the URL.

Missed one of our webinars?
No stress, we can re-broadcast a past webinar on request. Alternatively, you can request to view its recording. However, you have to be aware that it will not be interactive: you will see the questions asked during the webinar as well as the answers given, but you will not be able to use the chat to ask questions yourself. Therefore, and because Promega @cademy is meant to be an interactive educational resource, we have a preference in re-broadcasting webinars.
Also, if you do not see a topic that would interest you, you can request that new webinars are being broadcasted with the topic of your choice, within the limits of out resources.
