3.9 Restriction Enzyme Recognition Sequences Containing
Start or Stop Codons
Table 3.9A lists enzymes whose recognition sequences contain the start codon AUG. Those
enzymes having a limited degree of degeneracy for the AUG codon (e.g., R, Y, W, etc.) are
listed, however those that would require the AUG to be composed completely of unspecified
nucleotides (e.g., NNN) are not included. These enzymes can be useful for creating
promoter fusions in gene expression studies. Promega enzymes are in bold.
