A Validation of Qiagen^® QIAampŌ Spin columns – An Alternative to Organic Based Extraction Methods

QIAampŌ DNA extraction columns offer an alternative to organic based DNA extraction methods for Convicted Felon Database Samples. In this study, samples were extracted using conventional organic procedures and QIAampŌ DNA columns. The validation demonstrated that high quality DNA can be extracted efficiently and reliably using QIAampŌ DNA columns. Both RFLP and STR loci were reliably developed from the QIAampŌ extracted DNA.
