Genotyping of a sample of unrelated individuals from S. Tomé e Príncipe (a former Portuguese colony in the Gulf of Guinea) was performed using manual systems and separate PCR amplifications for each STR.

For all systems, genotypic distributions are in accordance with H-W expectations. In CD4, a new allele (17) is described, while for TP53, three new alleles (4, 12 and 14) were detected.

Allele frequencies estimated up to now are presented, as well as a comparative study with other populations.
