Current PCR Protocols require that DNA is extracted from its matrix and purified before amplification. The FTA DNA collection system, used in conjunction with the Rosys Laboratory workstation, allows the direct and automated sample clean-up of DNA and set-up of the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) procedure. Samples of FTA Bloodstain cards were processed on the workstation using various purification protocols including, Phenol/Chloroform/Isoamyl Alcohol and Proteinase K. Successful amplification and results were achieved in all cases using the DQ-alpha and Polymarker systems. Results demonstrate that these protocols provide the potential to process hundreds of DNA samples per day in an automated format.
