What types of carriers are recommended to increase the efficiency of ethanol
precipitation in a dilute nucleic acid solution?
There are several carriers, including glycogen, tRNA and herring sperm DNA, that can be
added to an ethanol precipitation depending upon the downstream applications. Typically
10-20µg of carrier are added to nucleic acids, but as little as 1µg may be used for
efficient precipitation
