Monoamine oxidases (MAOs) catalyze the oxidative deamination of a number of biogenic and xenobiotic amines to the corresponding aldehydes with consumption of O2 and production of H2O2, and are important in many drug metabolism reactions. We have developed an assay that couples the activity of MAO to the production of light by luciferase. The MAO-Glo™ Assay is a simple, homogeneous and robust two-step bioluminescent-coupled assay for the rapid and sensitive detection of MAO activity.
