Notes:
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor plays a key role in determining synaptic strength in the CNS. To help characterize the role of BDNF and the BDNF receptor, TrkB, in neurotransmitter release, cultured sections of transverse hippocampus from postnatal day 7 Sprague Dawley rats were fixed overnight in 4% paraformaldehyde in and stained by immunocytochemistry with the Anti-TrkB pAb at a 1:250 dilution.

The authors set out to determine the role of BDNF in modulating glutamatergic transmission between primary afferents and second-order neurons. Sections of rat brain, specifically the nucleus tractus solitarius, and primary cell cultures from the nucleus tractus solitarius were stained ny immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry with Promega's Anti-TrkB pAb to detect cells expressing the TrkB receptor.

Notes:
The expression of neurotrophins and their receptors in fetal and adult human bone marrow was examined. Bone marrow smears and sections were fixed and stained for TrkB expression using Promega's Anti-TrkB pAb (1:300 dilution) and the Anti-Chicken Ig,Y HRP Conjugate (1:100 dilution). Frozen and paraffin-embedded fixed human and rat forebrains were stained as positive controls for TrkB expression.
