Genetic Identity Product Profiles: PowerPlex® Systems

PowerPlex® 16 and ES Monoplex Systems

Description

The PowerPlex® 16 and ES Monoplex Systems are available to amplify the Penta E, Penta D, SE33, D3S1358, TH01, D21S11, D18S51, D5S818, D13S317, D7S820, D16S539, CSF1PO, vWR, D8S1179, TPOX or FGA locus. Each monoplex system allows the amplification of a single locus to confirm results obtained with the PowerPlex® 16, PowerPlex® 2.1 or PowerPlex® ES Systems. The monoplex systems can also be used to reamplify DNA samples when one or more of the 16 PowerPlex® 16 System loci do not amplify initially due to nonoptimal amplification conditions or poor DNA quality. The PowerPlex® 16 and PowerPlex® ES Monoplex Systems contain primer pairs that have the same sequence as those used in the PowerPlex® 16 (Cat.# DC6530), PowerPlex® 2.1 (Cat.# DC6471), PowerPlex® 16 BIO (Cat.# DC6541) and PowerPlex® ES Systems (Cat.# DC6731).

Features

  • Size Marker:

  • The Internal Lane Standard 600, a ladder with 22 bands ranging in size from 60–600bp and labeled with carboxy-x-rhodamine, is provided with the system. This marker may be included as a standard in each gel lane and visualized separately to monitor fluctuations in sample mobility that may occur from lane-to-lane.
  • Sensitive:

  • Amplification of 0.5–2ng of genomic DNA.
  • Tolerant:

  • More tolerant of degraded DNA than other typing methods.
  • Outstanding Technical Support:

  • Promega Technical Services Representatives are highly trained scientists who provide exceptional support for the entire Promega product line. Promega also provides technical training and support for its global distribution network and conducts customer training workshops in human DNA typing.

Figure 1. Panel A. A scan using a 505nm filter, which reveals the corresponding black and white image of the fluorescein-labeled loci (D16S539, D7S820, D13S317 and D5S818). Panel B. A scan using a 625nm filter, which reveals a black and white image of the TMR-labeled loci (CSF1PO, TPOX, TH01 and vWA). In Panels A and B, each allelic ladder is labeled to its right with the number of copies of the repeated sequence contained within its corresponding largest and smallest alleles.
