SilverSTR® III STR System
Description
The SilverSTR® III STR System provides a rapid, non-radioactive method designed
to obtain a DNA type, or genetic fingerprint using very small amounts (e.g., 1ng)
of human DNA. The three STR loci that are included in this multiplex system,
D7S820, D13S317, D16S539, contain alleles of discrete and separable lengths.
This allows the construction of allelic ladders that contain fragments of the
same length as several or all known alleles for the locus. Visual comparison
between the allelic ladder and amplified samples of the same locus allows rapid
and precise assignment of alleles.
Features
Economical:
- The SilverSTR® III STR System does not require fluorescent detection equipment
for analysis. The system is ideal for labs that are starting STR analysis or that
do not wish to purchase expensive fluorescent detection equipment.
Efficient:
- Less than one day required for sample to data analysis. The SilverSTR® III STR System
allows simultaneous amplification of threenon-overlapping STR loci
(D7S820, D13S317, D16S539) for high discrimination power.
Sensitive:
- Amplification of 1-25ng of genomic DNA.
Tolerant:
- More tolerant of degraded DNA than other typing methods.
Easy Transition:
- Promega’s STR systems allow the customer to transition easily from a silver
system format to the fluorescence detection format of the GenePrint® STR Systems,
while using the same loci in each system.
Outstanding Technical Support:
- Promega Technical Services Representatives are highly trained scientists
who provide exceptional support for the entire Promega product line.
Promega also provides technical training and support for its global
distribution network and conducts customer training workshops in human DNA typing.
