Beckman Coulter Biomek® 3000 Laboratory Automation Workstation
The Beckman Coulter Biomek® 3000 allows sample tracking and has the ability to create a single method with variables to run different numbers of samples and sample types. With the Biomek® 2000 a different method existed for each number of samples being processed (i.e., one method for 8 samples, one for 16, etc.) as well as for each sample type. The net result was that 24 methods existed for 8 through 96 aqueous or swab samples. With the Biomek® 3000 this number is reduced to one method. This new method uses the same Promega-supplied shaker and electrical heater as the Biomek® 2000 methods, as well as the 1.2ml round-bottom deep-well plate as the working plate. For information about this method, see the related Profiles in DNA article. For more information about the instrumentation required to run these scripts, contact Beckman Coulter.
