DNA Plant System
One of your major concerns as a plant molecular biologist is the time required to extract genomic DNA from plants. You want to purify DNA from a large number of leaf or seed
samples but you wish it wasn't so labor intensive. You need speed, but what you really need is an easier method that simplifies manual processing
or that uses automation to purify your DNA so you can concentrate on other
aspects of your work.
Wizard® Magnetic 96 DNA Plant System saves you time and labor.
The System is a high- throughput system for DNA purification from plant tissue. The system will purify DNA from leaf, seed or seedlings of a broad variety of plants in a 96-well format. Prepare a plant tissue lysate and then process the lysate manually, or place the lysate on the instrument and start the instrument. That’s it. The manual protocol takes about 45 minutes while a Beckman Coulter Biomek® FX robot will complete purification in about 20 minutes. Multi-plate protocols give you real freedom from the time and labor normally associated with plant genomic DNA preps.

Purification is accomplished using Promega’s MagneSil™ paramagnetic particles, optimized buffers, and the
MagnaBot® Magnetic Separation Device. The procedure consists of three simple steps.
- Prepare the plant lysate by grinding plant tissue and adding Lysis Buffer A to inhibit nucleases and begin solubilizing.
- Lysis Buffer B and MagneSil™ particles are mixed to complete solubilization and bind DNA to the particles. Washes are done to remove inhibitors and contaminants.
- Finally, the DNA is eluted in water or TE ready to be analyzed by PCR, SSR, AFLP, or other genotyping applications.
