Cytotoxicity Assays
Cytotoxicity Assays are available from Promega in a variety of formulations. The MultiTox Assays use differential protease biomarker detection to quantify the number of both live and dead cells in a single well, which allows many sources of variability to be controlled in a given experiment. The CytoTox-Glo™ Assay is a luminescent assay that measures a distinct, dead cell protease released by cells that have lost membrane integrity. A fluorescent version, CytoTox-Fluor™ Assay is similar to CytoTox-Glo™ Assay, but has a fluorescent read out.
Featured Products
CytoTox-Glo™ Cytotoxicity Assay
This bioluminescent cytotoxicity assay uses a luminogenic peptide substrate to measure dead-cell protease activity released from cells that have lost membrane integrity.
CytoTox-Fluor™ Cytotoxicity Assay
This single-reagent-addition, homogeneous, fluorescent assay uses a fluorogenic peptide substrate to measure dead-cell protease activity released from cells that have lost membrane integrity.

A rapid, fluorescent measure of the release of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) from cells with damaged membranes,
the CytoTox-ONE™ Reagent mix does not damage healthy cells, thus it can be used to measure released LDH in
plate wells containing a mix of viable and damaged cells.
GSH-Glo™ Glutathione Assay
A change in GSH levels is an indicator of oxidative stress, potentially leading to apoptosis or cell death. This luminescence-based assay detects and quantifies glutathione (GSH) in cells or in a variety of biological samples, providing a simple, fast, sensitive alternative to colorimetric and fluorescent methods that can be adapted easily to high-throughput applications.

MultiTox-Glo Multiplex Cytotoxicity Assay
This
sequential-reagent-addition fluorescent and
luminescent assay measures the relative number of
live and dead cells in cell populations.
MultiTox-Fluor Multiplex Cytotoxicity Assay
This homogeneous, fluorescent assay measures the relative number of live and dead cells simultaneously in culture wells.
