Promega Expands "Glo" Reporter Technology Beyond Firefly Luciferase

The new Renilla-Glo™ Luciferase Assay brings the convenience of the "add, mix, measure" assay format to applications using the sea pansy (Renilla reniformis) luciferase. The assay is ideal for screening in applications where a smaller molecular size reporter gene, compared to the typical firefly luciferase, is desirable. The extended signal half-life and low background formulation support its use in high-density plate formats common to many screening programs.
While Renilla luciferase has widespread use as a normalization tool in the Dual-Luciferase® Assay, this unique luciferase is increasingly used as a single or primary reporter in applications such as transcription regulation, cell signaling and antiviral drug screening. Assay precision is improved as there is no need for separate lysis and reagent injection steps.
The Renilla-Glo Luciferase Assay approach – with substrate and buffer optimized and ready to use – expands the small but popular Renilla luciferase reporter gene to the suite of easy-to-use reporter assay technology systems.
